Dr. Jonathan Hesney is a licensed psychologist who works with children, teens, and families at Mindspring Development Services. He supports young people dealing with ADHD, anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, autism, and family-related challenges—often focusing on helping children build resilience and healthy coping skills early on.
Using a blend of client-centered and cognitive-behavioral approaches, Dr. Hesney helps children and adolescents learn practical tools to improve their ability to manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. He incorporates mindfulness and positive behavior strategies, particularly in his work with children diagnosed with ADHD and autism, and believes in partnering closely with families and schools to ensure consistent support across settings.
Before joining Mindspring, Dr. Hesney worked as a school psychologist and currently works as a Director of Special Services in the Pascack Valley. In these roles, he has developed programs for students with complex needs and led teams supporting at-risk youth. He also has experience providing therapy in clinical settings, primarily with children and adolescents experiencing social challenges, ADHD, anxiety and depression.
Dr. Hesney holds a B.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and both an M.A. and Psy.D. in School Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
