Mindspring Development Services Evaluates Youth for Disabilities
Mindspring Development Services is a pediatric neuropsychology practice founded by Dr. Lindsay Petouvis and based in Waldwick, NJ in Bergen County.
Our unique approach aims to understand the entire system affecting a child, teen or young adult. Our evaluations serve as a blueprint, guiding families and school professionals to develop the most effective support strategies for each young person’s development journey.
Why Consider Neuropsychological Testing
Comprehensive, Individualized Assessments
At times, school-based evaluations do not diagnose conditions that are suspected. An alternative, deeper evaluation of additional neurocognitive areas may be needed for diagnostic and recommendation purposes.
A Clear Path Forward
The goal of every evaluation is to provide answers. This may take the form of a diagnosis, or may simply be a deeper understanding of the person's strengths & weaknesses that may be used as part of educational and treatment planning.
Gain Clarity
Schools and parents often choose to work with us when traditional testing methods are not delivering a strong enough understanding of how to best support a child.
A Third Party Opinion
Sometimes schools and parents don’t agree on a child’s diagnosis, services, or program. As a neutral third party, we help to ensure there is a thorough understanding of the child.
Evaluation Services
What To Expect
Initial Consultation Call
This 15-minute call is designed to answer any questions and determine whether neuropsychological testing is the right fit for your needs.
Intake Call
This is a one-hour call where we aim to understand all concerns and capture a complete history of the child.
Evaluation Sessions
Three appointments will take place, each of approximately two to three hours in length. The sessions take place in-person, during the day, at our office in Waldwick, NJ in Bergen County.
Report
After the last evaluation session, we deliver a comprehensive report that outlines all our testing and provides a series of recommendations for how to best support the youth’s unique strengths and weaknesses.
Follow-Up Meeting
For parent scheduled evaluations, a virtual parent conference is held approximately two to three weeks after the last testing session to provide additional context and answer any questions about the report. Schools contracting the evaluation have an option to have the report reviewed with the parents and school team.
Why Choose to Work with Dr. Petouvis?
Professional Excellence
Dr. Petouvis is dually board certified by the American Academy of Pediatric Neuropsychology and the American Academy of School Neuropsychology.
Evidence-based Recommendations
Measurable information is collected about the youth that provides data to support recommendations, leading to a highly defensible report if litigation is involved.
Empathic Connection & Support
A significant focus of the evaluation process is to foster support and trust. Dr. Petouvis focuses on helping youth feel at ease in order to show their true capabilities during the evaluation process. She strives for families to feel understood.
Holistic Understanding
Test scores are not the only input used to determine diagnoses or recommended services. It is believed that understanding the child's backdrop of their life, such as familial, cultural and religious factors, are critical to finding the best path forward.
